About Mesargen
Advancing the Genomics of Sarcoidosis Through Global Collaboration
Our goal is to transform the understanding of sarcoidosis by enabling rigorous, large-scale, and clinically relevant research in genomics and multi-omics. To achieve this, MESARGEN (Multi-Ethnic Sarcoidosis Genomics Consortium) was established as an international framework dedicated to uncovering the biological mechanisms underlying this complex and heterogeneous disease.
Founded and led by Natalia Rivera, Principal Investigator and Associate Professor (Docent) of Medical Genetics, MESARGEN was developed during her postdoctoral training at Karolinska Institutet. Today, Natalia Rivera continues to lead global initiatives in sarcoidosis genomics, including active contributions to the ERS-funded Clinical Research Collaboration SARCOIDOMICS.
As an adjunct faculty member on Dr. Michelle Sharp's team in the Division of Respiratory Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, Natalia Rivera will advance efforts in sarcoidosis genetics across diverse populations throughout the United States, in line with Dr. Sharp's powerful vision for impactful discoveries.
